Augmenting a weapon adds a bonus skill or stat on top of its normal power. The best rolls give you an active skill — a self-buff or heal you can trigger in combat — which is why augment hunting is such a big part of the mid-to-late game.
How augmentation works
- You need a Life Stone (higher grade = better rolls) plus Gemstones and adena, used at a Blacksmith.
- Only Grade C and above weapons can be augmented.
- Rolls can be active (triggered skill), passive (permanent stat) or chance (procs on hit/cast).
- Removing an augment destroys it, so re-augmenting means re-rolling from scratch.

These are the classic Interlude item-skill IDs. Custom servers frequently remap them, so treat the list as a reference, not a guarantee.
Which augments to chase
- Melee/fighters: Might, Haste, Empower (for hybrids), or a Heal for survivability.
- Mages: Empower and Acumen-type rolls for damage and casting.
- Everyone: a self Heal augment is a huge PvP safety net.

FAQ
What do I need to augment a weapon?
A Life Stone (higher grade rolls better), Gemstones and adena, used at a Blacksmith. The weapon must be Grade C or above.
Can I remove an augment?
Yes, but removing it destroys the augment — you re-roll from scratch if you augment again.
Which augment is best?
An active self-buff or Heal (Might, Empower, Heal) is the most valuable for PvP.
